David Craig BA BDS MMedSci FDS RCSEd is a Consultant and Head of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry at King’s College London Dental Institute (KCLDI), Course Director for the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD) and the Dental Sedation Teachers Group’s representative on the Intercollegiate Advisory Committee for Sedation in Dentistry (IACSD).

Carole Boyle is a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry in the Department of Sedation and Special Care Dentistry at Kings College London Dental Institute where she runs the Department’s General Anaesthesia service and teaches on the postgraduate Diploma and Masters programmes.

Jennifer Hare is a Health Psychologist, who works within the Dental Health Psychology Service in Sedation & Special Care Dentistry at Guy's & St Thomas’' NHS Foundation Trust.


The course is designed for dental practitioners, dental nurses and dental therapists/hygienists who wish to update and keep abreast of current professional standards. The teaching provides a core level of knowledge based on the syllabus contained in the current IACSD Standards (2015).

Mainstream techniques (intravenous midazolam and inhalation sedation using nitrous oxide/oxygen) are covered in detail. CBT and a range of additional sedation techniques will also be discussed.
