Course Description


Claire Chambers  (BDS, PGCert HE, FHEA) is a Senior Dental Tutor at the University of Portsmouth. She qualified in 2001 at The University of Bristol and has worked in both NHS and private practice and community settings. She has developed her undergraduate teaching role since 2006 where her enthusiasm remains high. She lectures in Advanced Human Science and clinical practice. Her main interests lie in the practice of safe dentistry for patients with medical conditions, local anaesthesia and preventative dentistry.


Successful local anaesthesia is essential for pain free dentistry and patient comfort. It is a technique sensitive skill that is developed with continual practice. Clinicians that deliver less or no LA since training within their current roles will benefit from this refresher course to update skills and theoretical knowledge.


By attending this course the candidates will:

1. be updated on relevant anatomy, physiology and pharmacology in relation to local anaesthetics
2. learn about the theoretical and clinical skills involved in delivering infiltration anaesthesia.
3. learn about the theoretical and clinical skills involved in delivering regional block anaesthesia.
