Latha Davda is an experienced CPD trainer who is involved in training and has vast experience both as an oral surgeon and as a General dental practitioner. She engages the learners with enthusiasm making learning an enjoyable experience.

Details:

Oral surgery skills are learnt by most practitioners in their undergraduate training and therefore carries the risk of deskilling if not practised frequently. This is a hands on course that allows you to safely use all the principles of minor oral surgery to enhance your current practice and reduce the need to refer patients to secondary care. The course focuses on removing fractured teeth, roots and wisdom teeth.

Objectives:

By attending this course the candidates will:

  1. train in the theory and practice of minor oral surgery that can be safely undertaken in primary care, including principles of flap design, tooth sectioning, safe bone removal and suturing to aid surgical removal of fractured teeth, surgical removal of uncomplicated third molars and root removal
  2. provide training in effective local anaesthesia techniques for dento-alveolar surgery
  3. discuss the management of intra-operative and post-operative complications associated with minor oral surgery
  4. know how to set up instrumentation for minor oral surgery
