Athletic Skills Model Instructor Course

The Athletic Skill Model (ASM) Advanced Instructor Course is an in-person 4-day (18h) course that provides coaches, sports practitioners, PE teachers and physiotherapists with a framework to think about skilful movement across the lifespan, encompassing elite sport and developmental perspectives.

Course Description

The scientific evidence underpinning ASM highlights how optimal performance, development and improved health and well-being can be achieved via a holistic multi-skills approach. The ASM applies scientific evidence in a practical manner, drawing on extensive applied experience and expertise. Check additional information for more details about taught content.

Taught content includes:

• Introduction to the ASM (methodology and background),
• Introduction to the concentric approach,
• ASM building block 1: Basic Movement Skills and the ASM Continuum (donor and multisports),
• ASM building block 2: Coordinative abilities,
• ASM Building block 3: Conditions of Movement,
• Transfer of learning,
• Talent development and new motor learning theories, developing an ASM programme and integrating it into an existing programme, monitoring ASM and facilities.

The course includes classroom and practical sessions.
